Behavior: In an attempt to reproduce earlier observations of these rails eating mice during high tides, I pitched a white mouse (from a pet store) toward a rail. It was stalked, killed, and pounded for about 10 minutes, then a Ring-billed Gull stole it. This mouse was about 1.5x the diameter and 2x the volume of the native mice I've seen rails eat before.
