Route
1200, arrive @SocNA. GPS mapping of the route from the
low-flow channel road just west of @SocNA; south to the
large, solid footbridge over the low-flow; up the ramp to
the dike, and some hiking between the dike and river
channel. River is wide and flowing strongly. 1400, leave.
Weather
Sunny, clear, windy.
Film
Because I have no known cataloged images of Rock
Pigeon, and to improve my ABA 'photographed' score
next year, frames 25-end are Rock Pigeons around
downtown Socorro. 1140, completed roll of Fuji
S-200-36 loaded 2008-02-08T13:00, loaded Fuji
N-400-24, but no shots today: too windy.
Muskrat in the low-flow, where it pools around a
nice cattail marsh just east of @SocNA.

Route
1200, leave Socorro, southbound, via NM-1 to Luis Lopez.
County road A-101 to US-380, back on NM-1 to Bosque del
Apache.
1300, San Antonio.
1315, arrive Bosque del Apache; center road only.

1500, Bosque del Apache, Marsh Loop.
1520, Boardwalk pond.
1625, Farm Loop.
1725, leave tour loop.
Film
1200, load VC-400-36 into FM2 body with 700mm f/11 mirror.
1230, F3 had roll of 400 loaded but was on frame 1; removed
and reloaded with Fuji-200-36.
1610, finished roll in FM2; load Fuji 400N-24.
FM2 final position frame 19; F3 final position frame 18.
Summary: The mirror lens does not develop much contrast
compared to Nikon optics. Even with 400-speed film,
the results are pretty grainy. Compare the one
Pied-billed Grebe picture to the rest; they were shot
out the window at the same subject at the same range.
Also grainy is the Ring-necked Duck shot.
