Ruddy Ground-Dove, NM: Bosque del Apache NWR

This is very rare in New Mexico, and to my knowledge this is the only solid record north of Las Cruces.

The bird is a female. Note the black tail corners. The lack of scalloped texture to the back and underparts separates it from Common Ground-Dove and Inca Dove.

Originals on Kodachrome 200. Nikkor 300mm lens with Nikkor TC-301 2x teleconverter at f/5.6.
