Notes from Cassidy Ruge:
I got a fairly good look at one of the grebes in question, and it clearly had white surrounding the eye. The bill was dull greenish/yellow (as is usual in winter plumage). I was not able to get a very close look at the other grebes, so I guess it would be inaccurate to call the rest Clark's without having a closer look.
Notes from Cassidy Ruge:
I saw this bird along the river walk in town, across Grand Ave. (towards town walking from the roundhouse). I heard it call from a dense clump of cattails, and I eventually was able to scare it out in the open for a few seconds. The call was the characteristic "tek" call, with some scolding rattles interspersed. Visually, it was a small wren with a prominent supercilium, brownish-red back, and a pointed tail. While this was the first time I had seen a Marsh Wren on the Las Vegas CBC, Will (Jaremko Wright) had previously seen Marsh Wrens in the same general area.
