Abstract: MedSchoolPlus is a web application crafted for medical students, created using PHP, MySQL, Bootstrap, and jQuery. It introduces three modes to approach case-based learning. Clinic mode is designed for group collaboration where students work collectively on a case. Their joint progress is captured, culminating in an overall clinic score. Each case in this mode is a unique experience, allowing progression only once. Upon completion of the clinic mode, students unlock the classic and study modes which mirror the clinic mode's functionality but is completed individually and can be run multiple times. Both the clinic and classic mode offer a guided experience for students with hints and study aids available. Study mode strips away the aids, offering a bare-bones experience. Students are presented solely with the patient description, without any additional hints or descriptions. This setting simulates the challenging environment of the USMLE Step 3 exam, preparing them for real-world clinical scenarios. This approach not only fortifies foundational knowledge but also primes students for advanced clinical examinations, ensuring a comprehensive medical education experience. |
