Dr. Michael Doyle has initiated a collection of all publications of
NMT authors. Mr. Williams Utaman
(williams.utaman@student.nmt.edu)
is joining us today to discuss.
Catalog
At faculty senate yesterday, a motion to continue with the old PDF was
rejected due to the insistence of the registrar that the new catalog at
catalog.nmt.edu will be ready for prime
time.
Registrar's office needs all the help they can get.
I am currently
working on a set of corrections for our sections.
Send corrections
to CSE/BTM materials to me by October 14.
Separately: there will be a massive change for state common numbers,
and it will have to go through the curriculum committe.
if we need to put in any other changes to the curriculum committee,
please let me know what.

Nuke the IT Capstone?
In a recent discussion of the IT program, it was proposed that IT 481/482
be eliminated and replaced by two additional technical electives. There are
strong pros and cons to this proposal.
Pro
Con
481/482 is at present a perpetual underenrolled uncredited
overload on one or more faculty
The overload used to be shared by CS and BTM, but no more.
Eliminates a signature element of the IT program that we brag about
Nuke IT?
The question was raised
as to whether the IT program should be eliminated.
At present, the IT program serves ~20 students.
It has lost some of its interdisciplinary flavor since
the retirement of BTM faculty who were interested in it.
A lot of options:
leave it alone, it serves a purpose
rename and refocus (e.g. to cybersecurity) but that would take resources,
and new names often require higher up approval
grow one or more new emphases/specializations, e.g. cybersecurity or
sysadmin or game development. Would that take resources?

Dr. Stavely: 49ers event?
I've told Advancement that 49ers is too soon to do an event celebrating
Dr. Al Stavely, but I'd be happy if I were wrong about that. More broadly
what do we want to do for Dr. Stavely?
