Who else should be nominated? Who should win?
- Overhaul the MS and/or PhD core courses?
-
- I think last meeting it was mentioned that these need an overhaul.
- Ideally, every tenure track faculty would be teaching one or more
core, required graduate courses per year.
- The core of CS changes only slowly, but the NMT CS core has to be
a function of its faculty expertise.
- We are at present pretty minimalist: one theory and one programming
course. Do we want to stay minimalist?
- Do all tenure track faculty feel represented in our core?
- What other courses should be core?
- Suggested: OS as a core course, 5xx Advanced Programming
as a separate core course. Systems Programming? Or is 525
really doing that already.
- Application Area for PhD open to all of CS, but research topics
are purely elective.
CAE-R submission deadline soon. CAE-R designations are for the entire
institute. There must be at least one program specialized in this area.
