enrollment
figure out how to offer separate or additional sections for some courses
IT 241 course?
A BA in Information Technology
Why:
we should grow iff it is in students' best interest
is growing something we want to do?
IT and MGT both need to grow or die.
At current enrollment levels IT is not worth it.
would a strong IT program strengthen both CS and MGT?
I asked VPAA pretty bluntly their intentions, they said
rebuild/renew MGT. Their resolve remains to be seen.
How:
enough interest to form a committee willing to develop
the degree program
look at how other universities' IT programs are structured
solicit input from students regarding what should the program focus be.
develop a BA proposal early in the year (like soon)
Example:
how many courses would it take to get through,
sans 113+122? Sans calc2?
suppose there was a CSE/IT 2xx 2nd Python course designed
to fulfill 122 and sequences/series/induction/recursion
material sufficient for 241
change IT 122 prereqs to say (IT122 OR IT2xx)
change CSE 241 1520 prereq to say (MATH1520 or IT2xx)
what does each courses requires 122 need from it?
IT 213 - OK | needs lists, trees, maps/dictionaries from IT2xx in lieu of 122
IT 221 - OK | not needed for BA IT?
IT 2yy - Data Science ??
CSE 222 - too much C in here for a BA IT major
CSE 241 - needs seq./series/induction/recursion from IT2xx in lieu of CALC II. Potential argument to split off a IT 241-lite
IT 321 - needs to be changed slightly
IT 326 - OK
IT 330 - OK
IT 353 - IT 2XX needs processes, sockets principles
IT 363 - OK
IT 373 - needs logic, either 241 or an IT 241-lite course
IT 382 - OK
IT 462 - OK
IT 466 - MGT 472. Explain to me again, better, why all IT
majors must take production and operations management. Which
pieces there does IT 466 need, and why are they not in MGT 330.
IT 481-82 - OK but brokenly excessive prereq.
IT electives? forced MGT 472 defeats coherent set language
