Agenda for CSE Department Meeting 8-29-22
- Tidbits from Grad Council
- Ideas for recruiting? Time for grad recruiting proposals.
- Aly complained about not giving timely admissions decisions.
Apparently we are not the worst, but we should improve.
- Switching away from {Grad,Engineering}CAS, hurray! Boo!
- CS Research Talks
-
- From last week's suggestions, I got Bill Luo to volunteer for a talk
next Monday at 5:30pm. Who else wants to give a talk to the CSE 585 Grad
Seminar?
- Last year we had colleagues from Texas Tech, NMSU, UNM, UArizona,
Los Alamos, and Rincon Research, along with some more prestigious and
distant speakers via joint UIdaho colloquia.
- This year so far I have invited folks from NMSU, UTEP, Sandia, NRAO, UNT,
Midwestern State (TX)
-
Have you nominated 1 or more colleagues to give talks this fall?
-
Seminars are MF 5:30-6:45.
- 2021-22 Assessments
-
- Outcomes Assessments are generally required for required courses
- Low-enrollment courses/programs may have to aggregate several years' data
- Not a huge deal and always a pain, but absolutely necessary
- We need a training plan for helping new faculty with assessments.
- Assessments for the previous year are due in early October each year;
maybe earlier than previous years.
- Maybe you sent me your assessments, maybe if they come in ad hoc I
might misplace them! Plz tell me what you sent me (if not on this list)
and what you know you still need to send me (I will assume you are in
this category until you are on the list below).
- I have assessments from Tong for 122, 221, 222, 325, 331
- I have assessments from Zheng for 353 and 525
- I have assessments from Soliman for 324
- MeetGreet
-
Can we announce this in our classes? Cards have been distributed to faculty
to pass out in selected courses.
