Agenda for CSE Department Meeting 9-20-21
Departmentwide Topics
- Department Promotional Video
-
- 2-3 minutes, focused on undergrad programs
- requested two, one for CS and one for management. Want for each:
- a theme/direction
- 2 faculty interviews - nominations?
- 2 student interviews - nominated: Summer, Alan F., Samuel N., Mariano G., Matthew K., (Isaiah L declined)
- compelling imagery
- two half-days' of filming, one for interviews, one for labs,
probably during October
- Cybersecurity Grant
- Lorie would like to find out if there are labs needed that she
can include, e.g., Dr. Shin has suggested a Situational Awareness
teaching lab.
- Covid policy: when-students-can-come-back reminder
- Per the NMT
resiliency plan,
it depends on their symptoms:
- at least one day with no fever and no fever medicine needed, PLUS
- at least 10 days, PLUS
- if you were hospitalized or are immunocompromised, 10 more days (20 total)
I guess that they figure you are no longer contagious after this period,
whether covid tests still say positive or not. This is consistent with CDC
guidelines.
- Spring 2022 Schedule
- Please think about the 2022 schedule.
- you may request what you want in terms of courses, days, and times
- don't expect to get whatever you want.
- if you plan on doing anything irregular, you must get permission.
- Grad Recruiting
- As far as Aly is concerned, now is prime recruiting season. Any ideas?
For the most part, I think our first priority must be to obtain
additional funding for them.
CS Program Topics
- CS Fall Advisory Board meeting
- I am trying to get a day/time that the advisory board can meet
for 3 hours, later next week or the following week.

- 1 from UNM
- 1 from Rincon Research
Pending
- 1 from NMSU

It might be possible to do a joint talk with UIdaho, although their
schedule is filling up.

- In MST advisory board, the topic of training teachers to offer
dual credit courses came up.
