Route
0615, leave Socorro.
0655, turn S from US-60 on the road to Mount
Withington.
0800, in Beartrap Canyon in the San Mateos. Some walking,
some driving on FR 549, reached as far south as the junction
with FR 476^W.
1325, out of the San Mateos, drove to the Magdalenas
and thence up the Langmuir road.
1530, At the “parking lot” for Trail 15,
where we searched in vain for the reported Greater
Pewee.
1605, on the road out of Water Canyon.
1620, US-60^E.
With Geoff LeBaron, repeating a similar visit of
1999-04-24. Beartrap was completely dry except for one
smallish pool that has always been at a certain low spot
on the east side. This is my first visit to Beartrap
when there was no running water.
