Shipman's favorite Albuquerque Thai restaurants

• Thai Tip****: 1512 Wyoming NE, just north of Constitution on the East side, in the back corner of a strip mall. My favorite by far. Nice folks, great food. The menu is large, and they do the standards well, as well as a good range of things I've not seen elsewhere. Unless you're on a low-carb diet, don't miss the warm, sweet rice, mango, and coconut milk dessert: it's one of the few desserts on the planet that I might conceivably choose over chocolate from time to time.
• Orchid Thai***: 4300 Central, 505-265-4047. An attractive interior, a long menu, and good food, including the standards and some pretty unusual offerings. Every plate has an edible orchid.
• Siam Thai***: on north San Mateo between MacLeod and Osuna on the east side, opposite a Taco Bell.
• Bangkok Cafe***: 5901 Central, on the north side. Dishes range from the traditional to the innovative. If you are a serious chile masochist, go there and order something ``Thai hot'' (which is to ``hot'' as ``hot'' is to ``mild'').
